About Us

We have dual duties here as we are the City of Moberly Animal Shelter and the City of Moberly Animal Control Division

Animal Control Services Include:

Taking calls for dogs running at large, reports of abuse or neglect and enforcing all city ordinances pertaining to animals by issuing citations.

Animal Shelter Duties:

We care for any and all dogs that are currently in our care, this could be long or short term depending on the situation.

FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS

I HAVE A DOG I CAN NO LONGER CARE FOR CAN I BRING IT TO YOU?

The shelter does not take owner surrender of dogs, this means you can not drop your dog off for us to find it a home, NOR dump your dog in any area of the city! We are not a humane society, we are a small pound and will not euthanize due to lack of space as there are plenty of resources available for rehoming a pet. For assistance in rehoming your pet please visit the Resources Section of the site.

DO YOU TAKE IN CATS?

We are a dog only shelter we do not pick up, or adopt out cats.

DO YOU HANDLE WILDLIFE?

We do not handle, rescue or rehabilitate wildlife of any kind. We are not equipped or trained to handle wildlife of any sort. If you are having issues with wildlife we suggest contacting the Department of Conservation for assistance.

CAN I BRING MY OLD DOG TO YOU TO EUTHANIZE?

We do not provide the service of euthanizing OR disposing of your pet. Humane Euthanasia is only preformed by a licensed veterinarian. It is the responsibility of the pet to see that their pet is not suffering and given a proper end of life.

MY PET DIED WILL YOU PICK IT UP AND DISPOSE OF IT?

We do not pick up your pet and dispose of it for no charge. Pets do not belong in dumpsters! As pet owners we are all responsible for the care of our pet even at the end of it's life, this is not something that should weigh on anyone but the pet owner.  Area Veterinarians provide cremation services for pets, their information can be found under the Resources Section of the site.
